The Town of Truckee is nestled in the picturesque
Sierra Nevada Mountains at an elevation of 6,000 feet. About
15 minutes north of Lake Tahoe, this historically rich mountain
Town has evolved into a premier resort community offering
year-round recreational opportunities. These include world
class ski resorts and scenic golf courses, boating and fishing
on numerous lakes and streams and hiking and biking through
national forests.
The Town, incorporated in 1993, has become the center of commerce for the North
Lake Tahoe area. Many new businesses, both tourist based and local-serving, have
emerged over the past few years. The economy, once very seasonal, is now vibrant
and multi-dimensional.
Real estate sales in the Truckee area has experienced tremendous growth since
the late 1990's, both in the number of units sold and the amount of appreciation.
Larger developments, including private golf course communities and luxury multi-family
projects, have recently been added to the existing single family housing stock

Truckee Area Communities
Tahoe Donner
Amenities & Location make Tahoe Donner Truckee's most popular all seasons community. Tahoe Donner amenities include an 18-hole championship golf course, downhill & cross country skiing, equestrian center, tennis complex, pools, fitness center, hiking trails, clubhouse, restaurant, campground, and a private beach at the east shore of Donner Lake. This 6100+ parcel development is primarily vacation home owners, who come to enjoy the amenities and close proximity to all area recreation.
Donner Lake
Historical location of the "Donner Party" families, whose story remains as a significant piece of the history of westward expansion during the 19th Century. Bordered on the east by the Donner Memorial State park, Interstate 80 to the north, and Donner Summit to the west, Donner Lake offers a breathtaking alpine setting with fantastic summer recreation. There are many public docks on the lake's north shore for use, which make a perfect place to picnic, fish, or just relax in the sun. The Truckee Donner Park & Recreation maintain the Public Beach on the lake's west shore. Enjoyed by both Primary owners and Vacation home owners, you can have a cabin in the woods, or lakefront luxury.
Glenshire
Located approximately 7 miles east of Downtown Truckee, Glenshire is a residential neighborhood of primarily Full Time home owners. It is known locally as the "Banana Belt" of Truckee, while still being minutes to all area recreation. Homeowner's amenities in Glenshire include a Clubhouse, Pool, Tennis, Park, and a Lake Trail. Truckee's newest Elementary school is located here, as well as a General Store, Video Store, & Hair Salon. Cambridge Estates is a newer community developed within Glenshire and offers ½ - 1+ acre parcels with newer homes.
The Meadows / Buckhorn Ridge
Located adjacent to Glenshire to the north, The Meadows is a gated community that offers 5 -15 acre equestrian and estate properties. Property owners in The Meadows are both Full time and Part time residents. Homeowner's dues include road maintenance and snow removal. Parcels offer a range from an open "high desert" feel to very wooded, and some have spectacular views of Boca Reservoir.
Juniper Hills & Juniper Creek Ranchos
Juniper Hills is a gated community located to the south of Glenshire and Juniper Creek Ranchos is a gated community located to the east of Glenshire, which offer acreage parcels from 20 - 80 acres. This is where you can enjoy the rural outdoors and privacy while still being close in to civilization. Both of these communities offer stunning landscape filled with towering pines, junipers, aspens, meadows, and mountain & lake views. Home owner's dues included road maintenance and snow removal.
Prosser Lakeview Estates
Located just a few miles from Downtown Truckee to the north, Prosser Lakeview Estates is nestled in the trees and surrounded by National Forest. There is no home owners association or amenities. Just a short distance to Prosser Reservoir, it's the perfect place for recreation "out your back door". Prosser Reservoir is very popular for fishing, hiking, mountain biking, camping, snowmobiling, & snowshoeing. Up until recently, Prosser Lakeview Estates was predominantly full time residences, but now is becoming a favorite for second home owners as well.
Sierra Meadows / Ponderosa Palisades
Centrally located just south of Downtown Truckee and close to the Truckee airport, Sierra Meadows & Ponderosa Palisades is popular with vacation home owners & full time residents alike. Sierra Meadows home owners amenities include tennis courts, park area, and a neighborhood pool. Adjacent to Sierra Meadows to the south are Martiswoods Estates & Ponderosa Ranchos which offer larger estate size parcels and homes from 1 - 5 acres zoned for horses.
Downtown Truckee
Historic Downtown Truckee offers many unique opportunities from condominiums, to Victorian Riverfront homes, to Mixed Use or Commercial properties. Donner Summit
Elevation Aprox 7300'. These areas are located west of Truckee on Interstate 80. Offering 4 seasons of recreation nearby. Ski Sugar Bowl, Donner Ski Ranch, Boreal within minutes. Or, cross country ski at Royal Gorge. The surrounding forested region has many lakes, streams, meadows, trails, paths, campgrounds, all season resorts, and recreational activities. Communities on Donner Summit include Serene Lakes, Soda Springs, PlaVada Woodlands, Kingvale, Norden, & Towle Mountain, offering a wide range of properties from small cabins to acreage parcels.
Pine Forest at Truckee
One of Truckee's newest developments. Located approximately a mile north of Downtown Truckee, Pine Forest is a prestigious community of 118 spacious home sites. Old Greenwood & Gray's Crossing
Old Greenwood is a new community in Truckee offering only 99 total home sites along a Jack Nicklaus signature Golf Course. Shared ownership opportunities are also available. Gray's Crossing is a 750 acre development that is currently under construction with its first phase of lots completed, named The Bluffs, comprised of 101 home sites. The remaining development will be completed in phases and the community will offer a village area, a Peter Jacobsen designed golf course, & residential lots. Northstar
Northstar is a year round destination resort. Lahontan
